Congratulations to Cole Harbour’s Nathan MacKinnon on winning the Stanley Cup last night!
Nathan scored the first goal for the Colorado Avalanche and set up the Stanley Cup winning goal to beat the two-time back-to-back Cup Champions the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-1 to take the final 4-2.
To see Nate sip from the Stanley Cup was a huge thrill.
He grew up playing for the Cole Harbour Wings Minor Hockey Association and eventually playing for the team he grew up cheering for, the Halifax Mooseheads winning the QMJHL President Cup and the Memorial Cup in 2013.

Nathan said in a post game interview that his Tampa Bay hotel room number was 1787, so he knew it was fate when his room number had his idols Sidney Crosby’s number in it:
The universe is always looking out… or maybe just the travel coordinator for Colorado 🤷🏼♂️

It was so nice to see the Mackinnon family in the stands cheering on Nate with father Graham, mother Kathy and sister Sarah.

Way to go Nate, savour the moment, we’re all Moose Country and Nova Scotia proud!
