The list of names of Nova Scotians waiting to see a family doctor continues its steep climb.
Nova Scotia Health has released its July report showing 100,592 people have signed up for the Need a Family Practice Registry.
The Halifax area accounts for more than 38,000 names.
That means 10 percent of our province’s population does not have a primary care provider.
The data shows more than 7,240 names were added to the list last month.
Twenty-nine percent reported it was because their provider had moved or closed their practice.
Meantime, 2,700 people found a family doctor or nurse practitioner each month in the past year.
