Police are seeking more details after a stabbing at a violent street party in Halifax Saturday night.
Up to 4,000 people gathered in the areas of Larch, Preston, and Jennings Streets as part of unsanctioned Dalhousie Homecoming events.
At around 10:30 p.m., a 19-year-old came up to officers in the area with stab wounds.
Police say paramedics couldn’t access the scene to treat him due to safety concerns. Partygoers could be seen climbing power poles and trees, fireworks were set off in the crowd, and fights were breaking out.
“Given concerns regarding the man’s injuries and the close proximity of the hospital, officers made the decision to transport the man to the hospital in a police vehicle,” police say in a news release. “The man was treated at the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.”
Investigators don’t have a suspect description.
They’re asking anyone with details or video from the area to reach out by calling 902-490-5020 or submitting an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
