Waverley, Nova Scotia’s Myles Goodwyn of April Wine fame was inducted into the the Casino Nova Scotia Hall of Fame on the weekend.
Myles on his Facebook page did a recap of the festivities:
“Last Friday and Saturday nights, this past weekend, where two amazing evenings filled music, lots of laughs and love and respect. Being on stage with, Bruce Guthro, J.P. Cormier and Dave Gunning each of those two nights, was truly an honour for me.
The audiences both nights, were brilliant. I wanna thank all that attended those circles and my induction into the Casino Nova Scotia Hall of Fame.
The evening started with Jodi Guthro singing April Wine’s I’m on Fire For You. Very nice.
JP and Dave brought their A-Game with great vocals and musicianship, and a wicked sense of humor.
It was wonderful to have DeeDee Austin accompanying Dave on Friday night and singing in Mi’kmaw , acknowledging Friday was Truth and Reconciliation Day in Canada.
Matt Andersen made a special live appearance singing a song that got us all on our feet in appreciation. Thank you Matt and DeeDee!
A special thanks to my dear friend, Jim Henman, original member of April Wine. Jim performed two songs each night, it was magic.
And Bruce Guthro performed a selection of killer original songs as well as doing masterful job hosting the event.
There was also a film shown that highlighted my career that was very well done and left me feeling emotional.
Thank you, Ashlea Barr and Bruce, for the work you both put into the making of that film. And to the folks that did the technical work editing and producing of the film.
There were filmed well-wishes by, Irish Wren Mythen(recorded in London England) Lennie Gallant, Alan Doyle Cory Tetford, Gordie Sampson and Matt Minglewood Also, the Premier of N.S., Tim Houston congratulated me on the award.
The Mayor of Halifax, Mike Savage attended in person. Mike presented me (Kim) with a large bouquet of flowers and a congratulatory speech….he’s cool.
So, it was a truly great event and I am grateful to everyone that contributed to making the weekend a beautiful one for Kim and I. Thank you Casino Nova Scotia.”
Previous inductees to the Casino Nova Scotia Hall of Fame include Rita MacNeil, Matt Minglewood and Anne Murray.
