George Canyon’s autobiography is out now called “My Country.”
His book recounts George’s musical journey from here in small Fox Brook, Pictou County, Nova Scotia to the big city of Nashville, Tennessee and how his life came full circle when he moved back to Canada, this time out West in Alberta.
He documents his personal story as he reveals a childhood diagnosis of type 1 diabetes and the many years of hard work and sacrifice by touring in dive bars across Canada and working various jobs to carve out a career and make a living as a musician.

George got his big break back in 2004 when he landed a spot on Nashville Star, the singing competition TV show.
Over the last few years, he’s also been inducted into the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame and is currently the anthem singer for the NHL’s Calgary Flames.
