1. Explore the Citadel Hill Historic Site
Now is your chance to explore Citadel Hill for FREE! The park is offering free admission all day from 9am to 5 pm on Saturday, July 1st. The 78th Highlanders will be doing special drills and demonstrations between 10am and 4pm and will be serving Canada Day cake starting at 11am!
2. Take a Tour with Ambassatours
Ambassatours has a tour for everyone. The Harbor Hopper Cruise for the whole family, Sail The Tall Ship Silva, enjoy a Floating Beer Garden, or Wine on the Water, Hop on a Halifax Bus Tour, enjoy a Dinner Cruise or end the night on a dance floor on one of Ambasstours Party Cruises!
3. Jam out at The ANSMA Canada Day Concert
The ANSMA Canada Day Concert will be taking over the Dartmouth Sunshine Series stage at the Dartmouth Ferry Terminal on July 1st from 7pm to 10pm! Featuring a variety of emerging and established artists including Zamani Folade, Jupiter Reign, Arenye, and Deves Matwawana.
4. Check out Bedford Days
Bedford Days has a ton of fun activites for the whole family on Canada Day at Dewolf Park.
From 9am to 11am there will be a Pancake Breakfast. You can enjoy some delicious Sunnyside pancakes served by the Sunnyside Restaurant staff.
There will be a Glow Fun Land from 9am to 4pm. This is a fun park for kids. Tickets and bracelets can be bought on site.
There will be Live Music from 1130 am to 1pm. Join the main stage to enjoy some music by Tyler Key.
Kids’ Canada Day Party will be from 1pm to 3pm. Activities with the mermaids, a cirque show and lots more.
Glow Fun Land will be back from 6pm to 9:45pm. A perfect way to end all the fun activities with the kids right before some fireworks!
Note: Bracelets purchased during the day are not valid during the evening event. New bracelets must be purchased for the evening activities.
Bedford Volunteer Fire Dept. Beer Fest* (19+) from 6pm to midnight with live music, a DJ and a cash bar.
Canada Day Celebrations 8pm to 10pm with live music.

5. Eat Some Delicious Ribs at Harborside Ribfest
Harbourside Ribfest will be returning to the Dartmouth Waterfront for the ninth year in a row. Head down to Alderney Landing this long weekend and check out the five unique rib trucks and the exciting local vendors from June 30th to July 2nd, 11am to 10pm and July 3rd, 11am to 5pm.
6. Enjoy The Canadian Forces Snowbirds Air Show
The Snowbirds, 431 Air Demonstration Squadron are a Canadian icon composed of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members and National Defense Public Service employees. Pilots, technicians (aviation, avionics, aircraft structure, supply), mobile support operators, resource management support clerks, an engineering officer, a logistics officer and a public affairs officer representing all three elements (Army, Navy and Air Force), work as a team to bring thrilling performances to the Canadian public.
Please note the snowbirds will be doing a test run over the Halifax Harbour (weather permitting), expect ferry disruptions between 11:30am and 1:00 PM.
7. Mawio’mi on the Halifax Waterfront
Celebrate KANA’TA: Canada day together with a traditional welcome and blessing from our Elders to start the day. After the snowbird airshow at noon, they’ll kick it off with Mi’kmaq inspired music from Morgan Toney, Joe Henry and more. Followed by a cultural demo: enjoy the rhythmic beats of indigenous drums that fill the air with energy and get inspired by traditional and contemporary Mi’kmaq Dancers. July 1st, 11:30am-11pm.
8. Watch a Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo performance on the Halifax Waterfront
Come out the Halifax Waterfront from 10:30am to 11:30am and enjoy some live performances by the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo Bands. You can find them on the Halifax Waterfront at 1655 Lower Water Street.
9. Sackville Patriot Days
Fun filled days for the community, families, friends, and for all. A celebration that is organized around Canada Day! Events on Canada Day include a Canada Day Parade at 9am on Sackville Drive. 40TH Anniversary Celebration and Flag raising at 11am at the Fultz House. BBQ at 11am at Knox United Church. A Baked Bean Drive from 11:30am to 2pm at the Fultz House. Lastly, a Teddy Bear Picnic from 1pm to 3pm at the Sackville Arena.
10. FIREWORKS
There are several differnt firework shows planned for the weekend (weather pending).
- Friday, June 30th at Kinsmen Park in Lower Sackville at Dusk.
- Saturday, July 1st at DeWolf Park in Bedford at 10pm (rain date will be June 2nd).
- Saturday, July 1st Downtown Halifax & Dartmouth from 10pm to 10:10pm. Theses Canada day FIREWORKS are returning for the first time since 2019. The best place to view the show will be on The Halifax Waterfront Foundation Warf stage and at the Dartmouth Ferry Terminal Park stage.
