Ron Beard was recently inducted into the Maritime Sport Hall of Fame at a special ceremony.
Ron went in as a sport builder, innovative statistician and time keeper at the former Halifax Metro Centre, now Scotiabank Centre, keeping time for over 40 years including 5000 games including 1148 Halifax Mooseheads games in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League!
He also was there in the Time Keepers Box for the AHL Nova scotia Voyageurs, Nova Scotia Oilers and Halifax Citadels.
(Above Ian and Ron after his special night when the Timekeepers Box was named after him.)
I was lucky to work with Ron for many of those games in the penalty box area and we’ve shared a few laughs and hockey stories over the years.
Earlier this year Ron was honoured for his time in Moose Country at a Mooseheads game.

Congratulations Ron on the induction, well deserved my friend and by the way Happy 88th birthday today on this Thursday, October 5th, 2023.
