Nova Scotia is looking to eliminate the practice by some daycare providers to take money from families to put them on a waitlist.
Education and Early Childhood Development Minister Becky Druhan told reporters this week a previous issue with one daycare was resolved, but there have been recent complaints regarding other providers charging a fee to secure waitlist spots.
Druhan says to her knowledge, this is a very limited practice, but the department is reviewing it to ensure that Nova Scotians have access to affordable childcare.
