Today is “World Radio Day” – a day for you, our listeners, and for us on-air to celebrate radio!
I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of radio since I began at CJCB/CKPE-FM in Sydney, Nova Scotia in 1984 while still in high school.
(Above: Ian in the early days at 18 years of age in 1984 at CKPE-FM – “Cape Country” in Sydney, NS.)
(Above: The CJCB hallway in 1984 where I dreamed of working as a kid and wearing the CJCB Blazer when I was 18, I have no clue what was on the paper sheet…)
To get to wake up and do something you love every day is a true blessing.
I’ve been on-air to cover a lot of major events both locally and around the world to keep you informed and up to date.
I owe so much to radio! I even met my wife Roxanne in 1989 while at 92/CJCH.
(Above: Ian at age 22 in 1990 at 92/CJCH on Robie Street in Halifax.)
The friendships formed with listeners and the people I’ve worked with over the decades is something I don’t take for granted.
It’s an honour to inform and entertain each day on-air and hopefully I can put a smile on your face with one of my Bad Dad Jokes…
(Above: Some of the stations I’ve been on up and down the radio dial.)
(WKRP in Cincinatti ran on TV from 1978 to 1982 and inspired me and many of us to get into the business.)
Thanks for listening, we do it all for you everyday and strive to be the best at what we do!
Tune in anytime here to HOT COUNTRY 1035 – Halifax’s Country!
Here’s a little video I did up today.
Cheers to “World Radio Day!”
