While movie theatres seem to be dwindling in popularity, they are still a nostalgic form of entertainment and a great way to relax like you would at home while experiencing some form of (not-so) social outing. During the pandemic, movie theatres turned to a method of assigned seating and personal space but with this, it seems that some people got a little too comfortable. Here is a refresher on how to respect the shared experience of stale popcorn and a feature presentation:
Keep your shoes on

It’s bad enough when the person in the row behind you puts their feet up on the back of the chair next to you, its even worse when they get cozy enough to remove their socks and shoes. A local Redditor realized this is a reoccurring problem right here on our own home soil.
Turn off your phone!

As if the signs and lengthy preview reminders aren’t enough, phones can disrupt the experience of the big screen. If only there was some way to make sure it didn’t make such loud sounds or bright lights while in the middle of a movie….. it’s also not like movies list exactly when they start and how long they run for so you’ll know when they might overlap with that important business call.
Be on time

Another way to disturb fellow movie goers is to show up after the movie already begins and to continue your outside conversation as you shuffle your way through a dark theatre, past the legs of those who have already made themselves comfortable. There are endless previews for a reason, don’t be that guy.
Take your garbage with you

There may be staff working at the theatre who sweep out the crumbs of popcorn that missed your face but cleaning up your trash from the sticky floors is not their only job. Chances are, they’re just a teenager trying to make some spending cash between working the ticket counter, dishing out snacks to people who think the teens themselves make the prices, and trying not to lose their shoes on half-dried theatre floor soda.
We’re in for a treat this year with a number of anticipated sequels and crossovers, you can be a part of making the experience a memorable one for all.
