Plan for traffic disruptions in the HRM as residents celebrate our nation’s birthday on July 1st.
Canada Day parades are planned for downtown Halifax, North Preston, Lower Sackville and Lakeview.
The municipality advises to expect delays on Monday and use an alternative route whenever possible.
Canada Day and Children’s parade routes and times
Halifax: Beginning and ending at Scotiabank Centre on Carmichael Street
Time: 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
Traffic impact: The parade will begin at the Scotiabank Centre on Carmichael Street, move south on Brunswick Street, west on Spring Garden Road, move north on South Park Street, east on Sackville Street, continue north onto Brunswick Street and finish on Carmichael Street.
North Preston: Beginning and ending at North Preston Community Centre
Time: 10:00 to 10:30 a.m.
Traffic impact: The parade will begin at the North Preston Community Centre, turn east on Simmonds Road, south on North Preston Road, move onto Johnson Road, turn onto Clarence Street, move onto Cain Street, north on North Preston Road, west onto Simmonds Road and finish at the North Preston Community Centre.
Lower Sackville: Beginning at Downsview Drive and ending at Rock Church (222 Sackville Drive)
Time: 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Traffic impact: The parade will begin at the Downsview Mall entrance, turn down Sackville Drive and finish at the Rock Church.
Lakeview: Beginning on Lakeview Road and ending at Lakeview Park
Time: 11:00 to 11:30 a.m.
Traffic impact: The Children’s Parade will begin at the Halifax Regional Ground Search and Rescue on Lakeview Road, turn onto Third Avenue and finish at Lakeview Park.
