Another Memorial High School, Sydney Mines, Cape Breton reunion is in the books, this was our 40th!
We reunited last weekend at the North Sydney Yacht Club, yes, I’m too young to have a 40th high school reunion…
We are lucky to get to do this now every five years and we just pick up where we left off every time with a special group of people.
It’s great to get caught up and hear about our classmates, their kids and now their grandkids.
Many of the MHS Class of ’84 have had successful careers, many own successful businesses and many are pillars of their respective communities. We should be proud of that.

We travelled from all over the Maritimes with some from as far away as Ontario and beyond, even Japan!
We took a moment to remember those who are no longer with us, like my Radio & TV Teacher Charlie MacMillan at CMHS Radio.

The stories told from yesteryear about “the good old days” are still told, but maybe with a bit more embellishment now.

At our 10th reunion in 1994 there were doing backflips off a classmate’s deck, at the 20th in 2004 we went to Rollie’s Bar in North Sydney afterwards and closed it down in the wee hours of the morning.
At the 30th in 2014 we rocked with Matt Minglewood and Sam Moon.
The 35th in 2019 was a bit tamer.
There was no backflipping or late-night bars this time around, as we are slowing down just a bit when it comes to partying.
But the connections and friendships are still there, as we now look forward to reconnecting again for the 45th reunion in 2029!

Thanks to all the organizers for making this happen, cheers to the MHS Class of ’84 and like our prom theme said back then: “The Best is Yet to Come!”
