The 2025 Cape Breton Music Industry Hall of Fame has announced their latest inductees.
This year’s class will include the Rankin Family of Mabou, the late Bruce Guthro from Sydney Mines and Sydney’s Donnie Campbell a musician and host of the iconic radio show “Celtic Serenade” that’s been on Cape Breton airwaves for over 50 years.

Donnie and I worked together back when I started in radio in 1984 at CKPE-FM “Cape Country” he would record his programs on Friday nights in the studio next to me, we had a few yarns over the years.

The group has won many Canadian music awards, including 15 East Coast Music Awards, six Juno Awards, four SOCAN Awards, three Canadian Country Music Awards and two Big Country Music Awards.
Bruce Guthro sadly passed away on September 5, 2023 at the age of 62.
Back in the 1980’s he would come into the Sydney radio station to drop off his bands latest music that we would play on the radio. We always knew he was going to be a star.
He recorded as a solo artist for decades, and was lead vocalist for the Scottish Celic rock band Runrig from 1998, until the group retired in 2018.
