Your Halifax Mooseheads play Game 3 of the second round of the QMJHL Playoffs tonight at 7pm.
The Rouyn-Noranda Huskies lead the best of 7 series two games to none taking wins in games in Quebec last weekend 4-1 and 5-0.
The Herd will look to turn the tide here on Moose Country ice and the Huskies rink is an older and much smaller ice surface.
So it will be interesting to see how they play at the Scotiabank Centre. Both teams shared overtime wins against each other in the regular season.
Game 4 is Wednesday night and Game 5 if necessary, this Friday, April 18th here in Halifax as it’s a 2-3-2 series just like in Round 1 with Drummondville to help with travels costs.
This young Mooseheads squad is the youngest in fifty years in the Q League and remember last series they were the first 16th seeded team since the QMJHL’s 1969 inception to win a first round playoff matchup when they downed Drummondville.
By the way it was 22 years ago tonight on April 15th, 2003, that the Mooseheads played Game 7 against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at the Halifax Forum. The then Metro Centre was booked for figure skating bumping the Moose to Windsor Street.
The old barn was packed to the rafters as Moosemaniac fans started lining up on the lunch hour for the 7 o’clock puck drop. Fans could be seen lined up down Young Street almost to Tim Hortons!

Halifax went on to shoutout Bathurst 4-o with Brandon Benedict and Bobby Clarke getting some key goals. It is one of my most memorable games to have announced over my 28 seasons with the team behind the Moose Microphone.

Let’s hope the magic from 22 years ago will return tonight here in Moose Country!
Go Moose Go!!
