The MacDonald Bridge is set to undergo an extreme makeover that will span most of the next two years at a cost of 75 million bucks.
A crew of about eighty will strip seven decades of paint off the towers, resulting in several weekend closures throughout the process.
The first one is this weekend starting Friday night April 25th at 7pm and continuing through until Monday morning at 5:30am.
The other two closures of the MacDonald will likely be this November and December according to the Bridge Commission.
The Dartmouth tower will be finished this year, and the Halifax tower is expected to be completed in 2026. Halifax Harbour Bridges says the A. Murray MacKay Bridge will always be open when the MacDonald is closed.
