Former Hot Country Mornings announcer Denyse Sibley was the first to report the Bayers Lake wildfire on Tuesday afternoon.
Denyse is now a full-time pilot and is chief pilot and operations manager at the Debert Airport.

As a part of her duties she now patrols the Nova Scotia skies, looking for fires in the summertime and was flying a wildfire surveillance flight in the Halifax area on Tuesday afternoon.
After seeing the hot spot, she then radioed the location to the Department of Natural Resources, then a provincial helicopter with a water bucket arrived on scene at Susie Lake, along with two fixed-wing water bombing planes that came in to assist from New Brunswick.
Denyse was impressed with the team work of her fellow pilots involved and how everyone came together to fight the fire.
We’re proud of you my friend!

Denyse was a part of the Hot Country team between 2017 and 2019 before following her dream of being a full-time pilot.
Proud of you my friend!
