A $2.7 million investment from Nova Scotia to community groups, not-for-profits as well as municipalities to improve recreation facilities.
The funding is through the Recreation Facility Development Grant program and will go to 32 organizations for upgrades to parks, playground, trails, athletic fields and other spaces that encourage physical activity.
In addition to that, 18 organizations are getting money through the Rink Revitalization Fund for community rinks and arenas.
“Community recreation spaces are where healthy habits take root – where kids learn skills, neighbours connect and people of all ages get moving,” said Dave Ritcey, Minister of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage. “With this investment, we’re creating safe places where kids and families can stay active.”
