This Sunday afternoon the 2nd annual Billy Marr Memorial Skate Sharpening Fundraiser will take place.
It will be on between 12pm and 5pm at 139 Freshwater Trail in Dartmouth.
The event will feature Saint Mary’s University hockey training staff Michael Fines and Kevin Purchase plus Benji Newson of the Halifax Mooseheads.
It’s a chance to get your skates ready for the upcoming hockey season and help out a great cause.
There’ll also be a youth hockey gear exchange to help with the rising cost of playing hockey, so please bring anything your children may have outgrown.
A $20.00 minimum donation includes a skate sharpening, a ballot to win a great prize and more.
Last year they raised $1,600.
Proceeds will go to the Canadian Cancer Society.
Billy was a local fire fighter and was well loved by his firefighting community friends.
Billy lost his courageous battle with cancer last year, he was a friend of mine, and we miss him around the rinks.
He was a part of teams like the Halifax Mooseheads and the Yarmouth Mariners and was well known around the Nova Scotia hockey circles.

So, if you can, please support the Billy Marr Memorial Skate Sharpening Fundraiser this Sunday, September 14th.
