Halifax fire crews responded to reports of smoke in an apartment on Kent Street late Friday night.
According to the Halifax Professional Fire Fighters Facebook page, crews confirmed a fire in a third-floor unit with one occupant inside.
Firefighters quickly rescued the occupant and transferred the individual to the care of Emergency Health Services.
Other residents had to evacuate, and a Metro Transit bus was requested as temporary shelter but was not needed.
The fire was contained to the unit of origin with minimal damage.
After air quality checks, residents were allowed to return home.
