The Halifax Mooseheads start the QMJHL playoffs tonight against Chicoutimi on the road in Quebec against the Sagueneens.
The Sags finished in second place the Q league standings behind the defending QMJHL champions the Moncton Wildcats.
The Mooseheads finished in twelfth position over all and once again play the underdog role in Round 1 again this season.
This is the first time since 1997 that Chicoutimi and Halifax have faced each other in the post season since that semi-final memorable showdown.

Last year, the Mooseheads defeated the Drummondville Voltigeurs in a first-round upset.
That’s the beauty of the Q playoffs, once you’re in, anything can happen!
Games 3 and 4 will be back here in Moose Country this Tuesday, March 31st and Wednesday, April 1st.
It’s a 2-3-2 series so Game 5, if necessary, will be played next Friday, April 3rd here in Moose Country at the Scotiabank Centre.
The other Eastern Conference matchups feature the Cape Breton Eagles and Newfoundland Regiment; the Eagles took Game 1 by a score of 3-2 on Thursday night in St. John’s.
It’s a Battle of New Brunswick with Moncton facing the Saint John Sea Dogs who finished 53 points behind the Cats in a “Cats and Dogs fight.”
The Charlottetown Islanders face the Quebec Remparts.
By the way, the Memorial Cup is this May in Kelowna, British Columbia.
Go Moose Go and see ya the rink next week to “BRING THE NOISE” Moose Country!!
