An off-duty Halifax police officer stepped in during a robbery at a Canadian Tire store in Dartmouth.
Police say it was Sunday afternoon when a man robbed the store and threatened employees with a knife.
The off-duty officer was able to restrain him outside, and during the struggle, a white SUV drove ‘dangerously’ toward the officer and the suspect, striking a store employee.
Police say the driver then exited the vehicle and attempted to pull the officer away from the suspect but was unsuccessful before taking off from the scene.
Later that night, officers located the SUV at a residence and arrested the driver with no further issues.
Both men appeared in provincial court on Monday, May 4, each facing multiple charges in connection with the incident. Police have not released any information about injuries.
