An out of control wildfire is burning in the community of East Port L’Hebert, Queens County, according to the Department of Natural Resources.
In an email to Acadia News around 6 p.m., Wednesday, DNR says it is estimated to be about three hectares in size.
“The province’s four new 802 fixed wing air tankers, bird dog and a DNR helicopter are on site along with DNR firefighters and three volunteer fire departments,” says DNR.
In a statement on social media just before 5 p.m., Wednesday, the Region of Queens asks residents to stay out of the area to allow fire fighters to do their work.
The municipality says if there is a change, they will post an update.
That area of the province is on the heels of the first heat warning of the season.
