Today is the kind of day where it basically feels like the sun is trying to kill us:
Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke can be deadly for some people; like infants and young children, seniors, and anyone with a chronic medical condition.
And on a day when the humidex will rise to nearly 40 degrees, Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke are something to be VERY aware of.
According to the Government of Nova Scotia, the best way to prevent heat-related illnesses is:
- drink plenty of water
- stay in shaded or cool areas
- take frequent breaks if you have to work outside
- wear lightweight, light-coloured clothing
- avoid leaving children, infants or pets unattended in cars
- and check in with older neighbours, or those who are vlnerable to heat-related illness, to offer water or AC if you have it
