Brian Coady Rose, 22, of New Haven, has been charged with Second Degree Murder.
Rose is set to appear in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court at 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
He remains in custody.
RCMP arrested Rose after the death of a 77-year-old Victoria Co. man.
Police say they responded to a report of a sudden death at a New Haven home Monday.
Officers deemed the death suspicious and began an investigation.
They say the people involved were known to each other.
RCMP released an update Tuesday after rumours began swirling around the small community.
They said there was no risk to the greater public related to this incident and officers did not issue any lockdown requests to local businesses.
Police say the misinformation being spread within the community concerning an active shooter, multiple suspects, and multiple victims is inaccurate and at no point during our investigation was this information been determined credible.
