COVID-19 cases are climbing across Atlantic Canada.
New Brunswick had 82 new cases to report on Sunday. The total number of active infections is at 628.
There are 33 New Brunswickers hospitalized, which includes 15 in intensive care.
Officials also reported another COVID-19 related death, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 54.
New Brunswick has reinstated its provincial state of emergency and is tightening public health measures to help tackle the rise in cases.
Meantime, health officials on Prince Edward Island are asking residents to avoid non-essential travel. It’s also increasing testing at points of entry for travellers.
The latest COVID data for P.E.I. reported one new case on Saturday for an active count of 40. That province has had 294 positive cases since the pandemic began.
The virus is ripping through Newfoundland and Labrador. It announced 24 new cases on Sunday along with 10 new presumptive positive cases.
All of those cases are being investigated. The province’s total is at 134.
Nova Scotia’s weekend numbers will be released on Monday. The last update on Friday showed a total of 169 active cases province-wide.
Public Health released a lengthy list of potential COVID-19 exposures late Sunday night. It includes several bars and restaurants in the Halifax area.
Health officials have confirmed community spread in the region in recent weeks among 20-to-39-year-olds.
