You’re going to want to have your proof of vaccination on your cellphone or tucked into your wallet on Monday.
Our new vaccine policy if officially kicking off as we enter Phase 5, the final stage of Nova Scotia’s COVID-19 reopening plan.
That means gathering limits are being dropped for events hosted by a business or organization.
Public Health wants you to print off or provide digital access to your new immunization card that includes a QR code.
You’ll need it to get into restaurants, sporting events, and gyms. The code is a new federal standard that just became available to Nova Scotians on Friday.
You can find the code online at Novascotia.ca/proof or by accessing the email you received after you got your second dose.
You’ll need to provide your health card number and email. Also, don’t put away that health card as you’ll need it again once the link is sent to your email in order to access your record.
Nova Scotia will introduce its “VaxCheckNS” on October 22nd, which businesses and organizations can use on a smartphone to scan the paper or digital version of a person’s proof of vaccination.
The scanner app will provide a simple green “confirmed” response or a red “sorry” response based on your vaccination status.
“Once it is launched, scanning the new standard proof of vaccination with VaxCheckNS will be the preferred method of providing and checking proof of full vaccination,” the province says. “People are encouraged to use this process to make providing and checking proof of full vaccination easier for everyone. It will also best protect people’s personal health information.”
The province says original proof of full vaccination records are acceptable in paper and digital formats, as well as clear photos, screenshots, and photocopies.
A record must show all the following information:

Many provinces have already introduced a vax pass, including New Brunswick. Prince Edward Island will launch its vaccine passport on Tuesday.
