It’s been a tough year for the Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign.
COVID-19 restrictions have continued to make in-person fundraising a challenge and, despite the best efforts of volunteers, the annual holiday fundraiser is behind its goal with only a couple days to go.
Lt. Gina Haggett, Divisional Director, Public Relations and Communications for the Maritime Division of the Salvation Army, said they had a $2 million goal for 2021.
Haggett said they haven’t reached it yet.
“We do have some tough spots.”
As of the end of the day Tuesday they were at 70 per cent of their Maritime region target, however Halifax is much worse. The campaign is about $150,000 down from where it was last year, at only 45 per cent of its $320,000 goal.
Still, Haggett said she is very confident they will reach their $2 million fundraising goal.
The campaign wraps up at the end of the day on Christmas Eve.
