It looks like we won’t have a white Christmas.
Ian Hubbard, Meteorologist with Environment Canada, said heavy rains earlier this week washed away most of the snow on the ground.
Hubbard said there’s no snow in the forecast to replace it.
“Most areas are going to see what they have on the ground now,” he said. “Most areas will see a green Christmas.”
Hubbard said there might be occasional flurries in some places, ones that get winds off the water, but it won’t be anything significant.
However, he said there is a part of the province that’s an exception, Cape Breton.
“Certainly, western Cape Breton and the Cape Breton highlands,” he said. “They’re going to be picking up quite a bit of snow over the next couple of days, so they will indeed see a white Christmas.”
The forecast shows a more or less clear day on Christmas for the rest of the province.
