Get your chips. We’re in for a messy winter storm this weekend.
Ian Hubbard, meteorologist with Environment Canada, says the rain will begin Friday, but that’ll change over to snow by early Saturday.
“There’s also going to be a fair bit, or several hours, worth of freezing precipitation in between the snow and the rain,” he says. “Some ice pellets expected, so could see some ice buildup with that as well.”
Ian Hubbard says the western and northern ends of the province will see the most snow, the east and Cape Breton the most rain, with the centre and Halifax getting much of both.
The forecast is showing some parts of the province could get up to 40 cm of snow, and other areas 50 mm of rain.
We’re also looking at heavy winds, gusts near 100 km/h for much of the province, starting Friday night.
