If you make minimum wage, you might be getting a second raise this year.
We should know by the end of the week if we’ll see a second minimum wage bump in 2022.
Tim Houston accepted a recommendation Thursday, from the Nova Scotia Minimum Wage Review Committee, to increase minimum wage to $13.35 an hour on April 1.
“Governments should always come down on the side of respecting their recommendations, as opposed to undermining”
The commitee recommended a second increase to minimum wage, to $13.60 on October 1.
Houston delayed his decision on the second increase.
“My inclination is not to undermine that work, it’s to accept that work,” he says. “But we’ll just take a week or so, just to make sure we’re listening to Nova Scotians.”
Premier Tim Houston invited public feedback last week.
