Zach Churchill is running for leader of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party.
The Yarmouth MLA made the announcement in front of family and supporters today.
Churchill served as minister in several portfolios under the McNeil government, including health and education.
He says he’s ready for the challenge.
“I think I’ve got the experience and skillset to help rebuild our organization, particularly in our rural ridings. We have to develop new and exciting ideas that we know can help impact the lives of Nova Scotians,” says Churchill.
Preston MLA Angela Simmonds has also announced her bid for the position.
The vote will be held July 9th.
Churchill says he’ll be travelling around the province and talking to Liberals, and trying to get people re-energized about what they can do as a party.
