A 31-year-old Dartmouth man has been charged with several new offences connected to child pornography and child luring.
Investigators with the Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit arrested Aaron Byron Cumberland on Wednesday and laid 20 charges.
Halifax Regional Police say he has been charged with the following offences:
- Possession of child pornography [x4]
- Luring a child [x3]
- Making child pornography [x4]
- Making available child pornography [x4]
- Obstructing a peace officer while engaged in the lawful execution of their duty
- Failing to comply with a release order
- Failing to comply with probation order [x3]
The former Kentville children’s tennis coach was sentenced to two years probation for a variety of sexual offences involving a 15-year-old boy in 2020.
Investigators believe there may be more victims within the Halifax area and throughout the province.
They encourage them to reach out to the police.
“We want victims to know that they can contact us and discuss an incident before making a decision to further participate in the investigation and court process.” an HRP news release says.
