The SEDMHA (South East Dartmouth Minor Hockey Association) Hockey tournament kicks off today!
Hundreds of hockey players will be keeping local rinks busy with games played over the next few days.
It’s great to see the tournament return after not being held due to COVID-19 the past couple of years.
HRM hotels and restaurants will be busy with teams in from all over Atlantic Canada.
I saw a few teams in town at the Halifax Mooseheads game last night including some from Newfoundland.
SEDMHA was founded in 1977 and one of the original founders was the late Bill Donnelly who was a long-time Billet Coordinator for the Halifax Mooseheads.
Bill’s son, Chris Donnelly, was just been named AUS Sports “Coach of the Year” as we head on into the University Cup this week in the Valley.
Congratulations Donz!
Tigers men's hockey head coach Chris Donnelly had been named the @USPORTSca Fox 40 Coach of the Year! This is the first time a Tigers men's hockey coach has earned this award!https://t.co/4n2w71sSoN pic.twitter.com/XG22bYYNcd

Congrats Donzie and thanks to Bill for starting the SEDMHA tradition that’s been a staple for generations of local hockey players and their families.
Here are a few pics from the 2010 SEDMHA tourney when my son Drake and his TASA Ducks Bantam AAA Team won Gold in the Oddyssey Division.
Great memories and good luck to all at SEDMHA!
