42 years ago, today Terry Fox started out on his Marathon of Hope dipping his artificial leg in the water off St. John’s, Newfoundland.
Terry would go on to run 5,373 kms in 143 days and the 22-year-old would become a national hero.
I was speaking with the Halifax Terry Fox Run organizers and they say that they’re still in the process of organizing the event.
After a two year hiatus due to Covid, the Halifax run back in person at Point Pleasant Park!
This year’s run is happening on Sunday, September 18th starting at 10AM.
Registration and fundraising starts today at terryfox.org.
There will be a family friendly event with a 1k and 5k route and other activities where you can form teams to participate together.
Many Canadian celebrities are supporting the run this year with a t-shirt campaign including Cole Harbour’s Sidney Crosby.

Terry’s goal back in 1980 was to raise a million dollars in his Marathon of Hope, to date over 850 million dollars has been raised in Terry’s name around the world!
Here are a few pics of my family including our son Trent who is a children’s cancer survivor of a Wilm’s tumor at age four months, he’s 23 now.

I’m honoured to once again be the MC for the Halifax Run for the 14th year this September.
Thanks again Terry.
