Halifax Regional Police say three people have been charged after shots rang out in Dartmouth over the weekend.
Police were called to Camden Street at around 11:45 p.m. on Saturday. They did not find anyone in the area but picked up shell casings.
Not long after a man who had been shot was located at a hospital in Dartmouth with serious injuries.
Police also say a vehicle in Dartmouth had been riddled with bullets and investigators seized a loaded firearm from the car.
They say the three men, ranging between the ages of 18 to 20, were arrested without incident.
They’re facing several charges including the following:
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
- Possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
- Unsafe storage of a firearm
The men were scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Monday.
Police do not believe the incident was a random act and say the investigation is ongoing.
