The Canadian Cancer Society is hosting their annual Relay for Life event on June 11th.
The Relay for Life has taken place since 1999 and symbolizes the perseverance and action needed to change the future of cancer.
The Canadian Cancer Society is Canada’s largest cancer charity, and aids those affected by the mass amounts of types of cancer. They have free programs and services that help patients manage life with cancer and a supportive online community, along with online and phone-based information specialists.
Relay for Life is taking place at Acadia Park in Lower Sackville, next to the Sackville Public Library.
Relay for Life consists of people of all ages walking along the path of the park until sundown. The first lap is called the Lap of Hope which honours Participants of Hope. When the sun goes down, participants light luminaries and place them alongside the path to honour those who have been lost to the incurable diseases.
You can help cancer victims and their families by donating at cancer.ca and participating in the Relay for Life this Saturday.
You can purchase a luminary to honour a loved one in the link below.
