A new attraction is coming to the South Shore that will see a local lake adorned with a giant inflatable unicorn.
Splashifax which opened a water park in Halifax last summer announced this week that they will be moving to Bridgewater.
The company says they have bought a property on Little Lake in Wileville, which is just a five-minute drive outside of Bridgewater.
The park will be set up much like the one in Halifax was last summer, its centerpiece is a 50-foot floating rainbow unicorn that visitors can play on. It will also be surrounded by other inflatables that visitors can use.
Kristina Lemieu CEO of Splashifax, says they purchased the land as they wanted to be in a location that made sense for travel, parking, and a long-term commitment.
“The idea is that we intend to stay here and work to improve the experience as time goes on,” Lemieu said.
She says they have begun speaking with the Municipality of the District of Lunenburg and the Town of Bridgewater to ensure they are able to operate and Lemieu is confident they will be given the green light.
They are beginning preparations at the site on Little Lake now, with them targeting a July 15 opening.
Tickets are already available online, and Lemieu says that based on last year’s demand she advises anyone planning to make a trip on a weekend to book well in advance.
When in operation they anticipate they will need around 30 employees, and they are now hiring. Lemieu says there is a particular need for lifeguards, an issue many local pools and beaches have also struggled with this summer.
Splashifax has also made plans to open another park in Ottawa that will also open this summer.
