Cyclists in Nova Scotia are rallying behind a fellow athlete who was struck while riding on a well-travelled road over the weekend.
A GoFundMe has been set up for Rob Klue, raising more than $25,000 in one day.
Friend Brendan Clinton launched the online campaign with the goal of helping with Klue’s medical recovery.
A post on GoFundMe says he was riding to his job as a massage therapist on Saturday morning along Purcells Cove Road when he was hit and seriously injured.
He’s described as a “keen cyclist” and someone who is “well known in the Halifax cycling community.”
In an update, Clinton says Klue was conscious in the ICU and doing well after surgery but he has a challenging recovery ahead.
The campaign is aiming to raise $30,000.
