You can expect lots of heat for the rest of the week.
Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for most of Nova Scotia.
For the next three days, they’re predicting temperatures between 23-30 degrees, with the humidex reaching 36 and high UV.
Shane Strong is a Regional Emergency Management Coordinator and has some tips for staying safe in the heat.
“There’s lots of precautions. People can reduce their heat risk by limiting their outdoor activities to the coolest part of the day,” says Strong. “Also by reducing their indoor temperatures and reducing their body temperatures.”
He recommends using air conditioning or fans, and to block sunlight with curtains or shades.
Strong also discussed some of the things people should avoid.
“Extreme physical activities outdoors, try to keep inside and people should be checking in with their neighbors or high risk people.”
He adds you can keep yourself safe by drinking cool water regularly, taking cool showers and removing extra layers of clothes.
It looks like things will cool off on Monday.
