It was not all lights and Ferris wheels at the fair along the Dartmouth waterfront over the long weekend.
East Coast Amusements of New Brunswick has posted to Facebook announcing its carnival was ordered to close early by Halifax Regional Police on Monday night.
It says the move was made because there were “gangs of kids fighting in the parking lots.”
The carnival was set up at Alderney Landing as part of the Busker Festival. It was schedule to close at 10 p.m.
Police have confirmed to our newsroom they arrived at Alderney Landing at around 7 p.m. for a report of multiple fights between large groups of youth, which they broke up.
There were no injuries. Two youths were arrested and charged with breach of undertaking.
East Coast Amusements also clarified the closure was not because a ride “fell over” after rumours swirled on social media.
