Eligible organizations in the province can apply for funding from the Marine Debris Cleanup Program.
“This funding supports the community based organizations and businesses that take on the important work of keeping our oceans and shorelines clean and free of debris.” says Fisheries and Aquaculture Minister Steve Craig. “In Nova Scotia, our ocean has shaped our economy and our communities just as it has our shoreline- keeping it clean is important to all of us.”
The funding from the program covers up to 75 Percent of eligible costs for shoreline projects and up to 50 percent for ocean based ones, up to a maximum of $5.000 per project. Its open to organizations in the seafood harvesting, processing, buying, or aquaculture industries, along with economic development organizations, community associations, and environmental groups.
Interested organizations have until March 31st of next year to apply, and you must be listed with the Registry of Joint Stocks to be eligible.
