You’ll want to put your phone back in your pocket if you get a text about Hurricane Fiona relief.
The Mounties are warning of a new scam targeting Nova Scotians who were hard hit by the storm.
Fiona swept through the region on September 23rd and 24th, knocking out power to about 415,000 businesses and homes at its peak.
The text tells you that you’re eligible for the “Fiona Relief Fund” if you were impacted by the storm.

It directs you to click on a link in the message to receive $400.
RCMP say you can count on texts like these to be a scam.
They recommend you learn more about the official assistance being provided by the provincial government.
