The Grand Ole Opry is returning to the small screen. Billboard reports that Bobby Bones has been tapped to host the weekly live-music series Opry when it debuts February 26 on the newly launched country music and lifestyle network, Circle. The series will cull performances from the Nashville institution’s previous week of shows, as well as interviews and behind-the-scenes segments, into hour long episodes.
“When I bring my friends to the Opry, what they really geek out about is [what’s] on the walls, in the [dressing] rooms, and that’s the stuff you can’t see if you are watching from the seats,” Bones says. “So what I want to do is not just do a history lesson, but show them how much cool freakin’ stuff is backstage and talk to people about it.” Meanwhile, Bones tweeted Wednesday, “Last night [was] night one of the new job at the @opry.”
