On Wednesday, September 20, a series of break-ins occurred on the 2200-block of Brunswick street in Halifax. Residents and local musicians Jesse MacLeod and Brennon Mackinnon say they woke up to find a guitar and a number of guitar pedals missing from their second floor apartment. They say the suspect likely entered through the window and at some point managed to enter their downstairs neighbour’s residence as well.
This is not the first time that Macleod has experienced theft while living in the same residence, he says his car has been broken into twice with a third attempt made and has also had his tires slashed. He also notes that reports were made to Halifax Regional Police but they have yet to see any investigation happening.
The missing items include a Fender Telecaster and a number of guitar pedals. You can find the whole list in detail on this post.
Macleod also mentions in a comment on his public post about the theft, “for some comedic relief, they also stole a nearly empty carton of milk, half a block of cheese, some ham from their fridge as well as a dishtowel — which was later found in a trash can on Barrington St.” He also adds to let him know if anyone sees any suspicious ham and cheese sandwich-making.
When purchasing secondhand instruments, be sure to make note of serial numbers and ask about the history behind the items you are purchasing. If you see any of these items being sold, notify the Halifax Regional Police immediately.
09/25/23 In fantastic news, the real ham-burglar has since been found and taken into custody. The instruments have been recovered but sources say there is no sign of the ham or the cheese.
