A Dentist in Washington is going viral for claiming it’s better to eat your candy all at once than to treat yourself a bit at a time. Obviously this doesn’t have the same benefit for your gut health but according to Dr. Olivia Mason, it could lead to less cavities down the road.
“It’s much better for your teeth if you sit down and eat your full bag of Halloween candy at one time,” Mason said. “I know it might upset your belly, but it’s much better for your teeth. Rather than we’re going to hang onto this for the next couple of months and every now and then we’re going to get in there and get some candy out.”
The type of candy you consume also varies in how it effects your oral hygiene. “The worst kind of candy for your teeth is the sticky, tacky, chewy, gummy,” Mason said. “Something like chocolate is not great for your teeth, but it’s a lot easier to cleanse and remove from the teeth.”
Regularly consuming sugary treats before bed can also have a significant impact on your sleep, another reason to get rid of the evidence all at once.
