A warning was recently circulating online about a new IOS update that has iPhone users concerned and for a good reason.
NameDrop is a new feature that allows users to share their contact info with other Apple users when devices are placed in close proximity to each other. As with many new features, this option is automatically switched on as soon as the update is installed. While the feature does confirm with both devices that Namedrop is activated, users can select “receive only” meaning contact info can be obtained by a single party without any action necessary from the other user.
To switch this feature off, users can go to Settings > General > Airdrop > Bringing Devices Together > switch to OFF
Or they can simply search “Namedrop” in Settings to locate the page.
Parents are being urged to check their children’s devices and disable this feature.
