Almost six months ago Jacob Newcombe from Sambro, just outside of Halifax, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma following a medical evaluation.
Last night he returned to the Cape Breton Eagles lineup in Sydney facing his former team the Chicoutimi Saguenéens for “Hockey Fights Cancer Night” at “The Nest” at Centre 200.
Jacob was given the “C” to wear as Captain for the game and his mom Stephanie introduced the starting players in the Eagles locker room pregame. See the video HERE.
The Eagles fans have him a standing ovation and Cape Breton ended up winning the game 3-0 over Chicoutimi plus Jacob was named 1st Star!

Welcome back to the Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League, Jacob!
