This morning, I dedicated my Hot Country 1035 morning show to Rick Howe with a few tears today.
We found out we’ve lost another Halifax radio legend as Rick has passed away at 69.
(Left to right on your radio dial: John Moore, Brian Phillips, Ian Robinson and Rick Howe in his traditional Hawaiian shirt and ball cap. )
Both Kelli Rickard shared a hug and a few tears this morning as we both worked with Rick at CJCH over the years and we have so many great memories including water gun fights and toothpaste on telephone receivers, so many radio pranks.
When we played hockey in the Metro Media Hockey League, and he wore # 9 HOWE for Gordie Howe.
(Above: Rick back row third from the right and Ian front row third from left.)
I was lucky to produce his last 92/CJCH Hotline Show on May 29th, 2008, one of the highlights of my career.
When he retired, he fulfilled his dream of living on Nova Scotia’s South Shore.
Rick leaves behind three sons and his beloved wife of 44 years, well-known Nova Scotia broadcaster Yvonne Colbert.
Funeral arrangements haven’t yet been announced.
Rest in radio peace, we all love ya Rick!
Thoughts and love to Yvonne and family.
