School buses full of Canadian Coast Guard Cadets were a welcome sight Wednesday as they hit the road with shovels in hand in Cape Breton.
Their mission was to dig out island residents who are trapped in their homes from the record snowfall of over 150 centimeters last weekend.
The cadets traveled around the Cape Breton Regional Municipality going from home to home.
Kendra Donovan of Millville, next to Big Bras d’Or where I grew up, just outside of North Sydney, made this Facebook post feeling grateful:
One crew shoveled out fourteen homes Wednesday!
Munroe MacKay, one of the cadets, said they did it to make sure everyone’s got their food and medications.
Hats off to the cadets, as this is just the “Caper way!”
