RCMP are trying to find out who shined a laser into the cockpit of a military aircraft that was on the runway at 14 Wing Greenwood on Monday night. Police were called to the scene at 9:00PM after a pilot was forced to cancel a flight. Witnesses told police the laser appeared to be coming from somewhere south of the base in Greenwood, but no arrests have been made yet.
Yesterday Halifax regional council voted in favour of a new bylaw to deal with unwanted flyer delivery. The bylaw would allow people to opt out of flyer delivery and it would also allow fines if you receive flyers but have a “no flyers” sign in your window. The fines will range between $25 and $250.
Two Cape Breton MLAs are planning to leave the Nova Scotia legislature to try out federal politics. Alfie MacLeod, MLA for Sydney-River-Mira-Louisbourg, says he intends to run in the federal riding of Cape Breton-Canso. And Eddie Orrell, MLA for Northside-Westmount, is hoping for a win in Sydney-Victoria.
